July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, an initiative to raise awareness about this rare type of cancer. Sarcomas are a group of cancers that develop in connective tissues like bone and soft tissue. The month aims to increase understanding of sarcoma, promote early detection, and support those affected by the disease. This month I am walking in the National Virtual Race to Cure Sarcoma.
I lost my mom to sarcoma cancer — a rare and aggressive form of cancer that took away one of the most incredible people I’ve ever known. She was more than just my mother; she was my biggest cheerleader, my safe place, my compass. Her love was fierce, her laughter contagious, and her strength unmatched. Even in her hardest moments, she led with grace and gave more than she ever asked for.
Her absence leaves a space in my life that can never be filled — but I refuse to let her story end with loss. I’m raising money in her honor to support sarcoma research, patient support, and awareness, so that no one else has to experience this kind of heartbreak. My hope is that we can turn pain into purpose, and grief into fuel for change.
Every dollar raised helps fund critical advancements and brings us closer to a future where sarcoma doesn’t steal another life too soon.
If you’ve ever loved someone deeply, if you’ve ever been touched by cancer, or if you simply want to be part of something meaningful — I invite you to join me. Donate, share, or simply carry her story with you. Together, we can make sure her light keeps shining.
Thank you for being part of this.
