Join Me in Honoring Our Heroes at the 2025 Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk NYC
For nearly a decade, I’ve flown to New York City each September to run the Tunnel to Towers 5K, a powerful tribute to the heroes of 9/11. As someone born on Long Island, NYC has always been part of my life—family trips, school visits to the top of the World Trade Center, and even hosting a prom in 2000 as an on-air personality for 106.1 WBLI at Windows on the World. Those memories make this run deeply personal. On September 11, 2001, we lost so much, but the courage of first responders like FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who ran through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel in full gear to save lives, inspires me to honor their sacrifice.
Every year, I join thousands of runners, walkers, first responders, and veterans to retrace Stephen’s final footsteps. Running alongside firefighters and police officers in full gear, carrying the memory of the 343 FDNY firefighters, law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians lost on 9/11, is a humbling privilege. This event keeps their legacy alive, supports those still affected by 9/11-related illnesses, and honors the 7,000+ service members who gave their lives in the Global War on Terror.
I’m aiming to raise $3,000 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families, builds smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans, and works to end veteran homelessness.
