This year, our Miles for Moffitt team walks with heavy hearts, but also with tremendous gratitude.
Earlier this year, we lost my dad, Brian Derby, after his courageous battle with small cell lung cancer. Cancer took him far too soon, but it never took away his strength, his sense of humor, or the love he had for his family and friends. He faced every challenge with incredible courage, and his resilience continues to inspire us every day.
Throughout his journey, Moffitt Cancer Center gave our family hope, compassion, and exceptional care. We experienced firsthand the dedication of the physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff who work tirelessly to improve the lives of patients and their families.
This year’s walk is no longer just in support of my dad—it’s in his memory and in honor of every family whose lives have been forever changed by cancer. Every mile we walk and every dollar we raise helps fund groundbreaking research, lifesaving treatments, and the hope that one day no family will have to experience this kind of loss.
We invite you to join our team, make a donation, or simply help spread the word. Your support means more than you know and directly impacts the fight against cancer.
Thank you for remembering my dad with us and for standing alongside the Derby family as we continue this mission. Together, we can help create a future where more families have more time with the people they love.
