Postponement of the ACS Gateway to Space 5K/10K
New Date: March 21st, 2026
The American Cancer Society, in partnership with Space Florida, announces that the Gateway to Space 5K/10K, originally scheduled for early March, has been postponed. The event will now take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Launch and Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center.
This decision was made in coordination with our host partners and federal stakeholders following recent operational developments associated with NASA’s Artemis program. We extend our sincere congratulations to the Artemis Ground Teams on the successful completion of their wet dress rehearsal, an important milestone in preparation for the upcoming launch window. In anticipation of these critical launch operations, NASA has implemented additional safety, security, and access protocols to ensure the integrity of launch preparations and the safety of all personnel and visitors at Kennedy Space Center and the surrounding federal installation.
As the Gateway to Space 5K/10K is privileged to take place on an active federal facility with a direct connection to America’s spaceflight legacy and future, we fully respect and support these necessary precautions. The postponement reflects our shared commitment, alongside our partners, to safety, operational readiness, and responsible stewardship of this historic site.
We understand that this change may affect participant plans. Registered participants who are unable to attend the rescheduled in-person event on March 21, 2026, may elect to transfer their registration to the virtual event option. Instructions for completing this process are available on the official event website under the “How to Guides” section. Our team remains committed to providing flexible participation options while ensuring a meaningful experience for all who support this event and its mission.
While this adjustment to the event schedule was necessary, we remain incredibly excited to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Gateway to Space 5K/10K, marking a decade of bringing together participants, survivors, volunteers, and supporters in the fight against cancer. Over the past ten years, the event has grown into a nationally recognized experience, welcoming more than a thousand participants annually from across the country to run on the historic runway that once supported the Space Shuttle Program and continues to serve America’s space operations today.
We look forward to welcoming our community to the Launch and Landing Facility on March 21, 2026, as we celebrate a decade of miles, memories, and impact, and continue advancing the American Cancer Society’s mission to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
We thank our participants, partners, sponsors, and volunteers for their continued understanding, flexibility, and unwavering support.
