Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCSV) recently partnered with Not One More Vet (NOMV) to help fundraise their campaign for suicide prevention among veterinary professionals.
Here at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, our mission is simple: We provide specialized care, in partnership with the veterinary community, to help families with pets. We use our extensive experience and expertise in all major veterinary specialties to provide the highest quality, most comprehensive specialized care for companion animals, while working to advance veterinary technology through education and innovation.
While our veterinary professionals work towards providing the highest quality care for our companion animals, we cannot forget that they also need support. So, we partnered with Not One More Vet which is a robust non-profit organization that provides education, support, and resources for all veterinary professionals and students across the globe.
Together, we hope to raise funds so that we can reduce suicidality among veterinary professionals and transform the status of mental wellness within the profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.
With these funds, we will be able to address wellbeing in veterinary medicine through multiple innovative and inclusive pathways. These pathways include evidence-based peer support, comprehensive programs providing leadership focused on wellness, grant programs providing financial support for individuals, and clinics experiencing crisis. We also aim to assist practices in developing programs to not only address mental health from educational institutions to the workplace but to raise awareness while aiding in research to advance mental health/wellness and reduce suicide rates amongst veterinary professionals.
