I'm participating in the DASH for Dysphagia this year. Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing/eating) affects many adults and children and is life-altering.
As a speech and swallowing therapist, I walk side by side with individuals and families that deal with dysphagia due to head and neck cancer (HNC). My great-grandfather had throat cancer and was treated at Mayo Clinic in the mid 1900's.
I would welcome your support by giving to my page. Your gift will assist in furthering the Dysphagia Reasearch Society mission to advance treatment, and rehabilitation of dysphagia through research. I'll be shooting hoops to help raise money and challenging colleagues and friends to do the same. I've been greatly inspired by the amazing college women's basketball teams - especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, my alma mater, and Caitlin Clark & Kate Martin.
My patients and their families inspire me every day and work so hard to live their best lives - even if what they can eat is very limited in texture and/or amount. Some of my patients aren't able to eat and drink and rely on a feeding tube in their stomach to meet their needs. Imagine not being able to eat with your family (especially at holidays)!
I’m aiming for $500 - let's go team!!
