Hey there! This Spring, I'm excited to be participating in AAPI NJ’s Color Run! 🌈
As a proud AAPI New Jersey resident, I know our community is going through some challenging times right now. But I believe that education is one of the most powerful ways we can create change. When we make sure our history, contributions, and experiences are recognized and shared, we can help shift perspectives and build a more understanding and inclusive society.
That’s why I’m supporting AAPI NJ's TAAS initiative — helping our community thrive through the power of education!
All funds raised here will go directly to this important cause. Let’s run for a brighter, more inclusive future together!

Teach Asian American Stories (TAAS)
Beginning in 2022, New Jersey’s pathbreaking law S4021 required school districts “to provide instruction on history and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as part of implementation of New Jersey Student Learning Standards in Social Studies.” 🎉
Teach Asian American Stories (TAAS)—an exciting initiative powered by AAPI New Jersey—that’s working hard to make sure every teacher in the state has the tools, resources, and training to bring AAPI history to life in their classrooms. 📚✨
With a goal to support all of New Jersey’s 600+ school districts, TAAS is making sure this incredible law doesn’t just stay on paper but it comes to life in every school, every classroom, and every lesson, reaching every student! 🌟
TAAS directly support educators by learning about each school’s needs and matching them with appropriate resources that meet them where they are, including:
-
Offering free professional development (PD) workshops
-
Connecting educators with additional PD opportunities
-
Creating curricular resources specific to New Jersey
-
Financial assistance for at-need schools and teachers to pay for curriculum, professional development, and books for classrooms and school libraries
-
Empowering “educator and district leader champions” through our TAAS Fellowship & Ambassador program
-
Building relationships with educators implementing similar mandates on African American history, Holocaust education, and LGBTQ history
TAAS regularly offers free professional development workshops for teachers on topics such as:
-
Why teaching about the AAPI experience is important
-
An overview of Asian American history
-
Curricular points of entry
-
The diversity of Asian Pacific America
-
AAPIs in NJ
-
The Model Minority Myth
-
Asian American literature in the classroom
-
Harnessing the power of graphic novels
