Emerald Miles 5K Run/Walk

Our story starts with a rare gene deletion. Jackson has had active seizures since he was 2.5 years old. Jackson's journey is as unique as he is. He has never let epilepsy stop him and every day he grows stronger. Jackson has drug resistant GEFS+ due to deletion on the GABRG2 gene. Jackson is a courageous, hardworking, determined young man. Jackson is a normal 8 year old boy that has been through more in his young life than I have encountered in my 36 years. Jackson is beyond athletic and continues to wrestle and play baseball everyday. He loves with his whole heart and his kindness is overwhelming. He is a force to reckon with and by looking at him you would have no idea with the challenge that he faces due to his seizures when they occur.  Normalcy with epilepsy is different however with the resources and drive that we have as a family we are truly unstoppable. Our family now has 4 generations that are affected by epilepsy. With this specific gene deletion we have many types of seizures in our family and ultimately are warriors. We have not stopped fighting and will continue to fight every day for answers, technology, treatments, and to better the lives of the ones impacted by this condition. We have a motto in our family - Epilepsy is not ever going to stop us or get in our way! It’s a hurdle and what do you do with hurdles? You jump over them 😉. The Herald Family 💜
