As a cancer survivor, this hits home. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 5 weeks prior to the 2019 Philadelphia Marathon. My surgery took place two days later. At the start of the race I learned about AACR. They asked us to raise our hands if we knew anyone that had cancer. I remember my husband and I looking at each other realizing not only did we both know of other friends and family, but there I was getting ready to battle the unknown. I knew that one day I would raise money to help such a great organization. Being two years since diagnosis and with September being Thyroid Cancer Awareness month, I saw this fit!
Funds raised through STRIDES will directly support the AACR Foundation's FIFTY for FIFTY campaign. This campaign honors the progress in cancer research over the last 50 years and is raising funds to support future breakthroughs.
