Haiti is home to thousands of displaced and abandoned children, left to fend for themselves in the country's increasingly dangerous streets.
Avek Ou ("with you" in Haitian creole) supports the Foyer des Enfants et Jeunes pour l'Integration (FEJI) Youth Transition home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, a rare, secure, nurturing environment that welcomes children suffering from past abuse and neglect. We shelter 12 - 24 displaced children and support them with medical care, mental health counseling, education, mentorship and food/nutrition as they heal and grow. Our ultimate goal for every child is to place them with a loving, stable family or foster family in Haiti.
I have been Avek Ou's Vice President since Jennifer Berkemeier founded the organization 5 years ago and have seen firsthand the impact that our work has on the lives of at-risk children in Haiti.
Unlike many other larger charitable organizations, Avek Ou is a rare opportunity to know that every dollar that you contribute will have a direct impact on the lives of the children we support. We rely 100% on donor contributions for our programming and greatly appreciate and need any support you can offer. Thank you!
