Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for the 2026 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland Red Shoe Shuffle 5K Run & Walk! RMHC Maryland is an independent non-profit organization, which means the community and supporters (like you!) provide 100% of RMHC Maryland's annual operating budget.
Joey was born with a rare limb deformity called posteromedial tibial bowing. At 2 years old he required and external fixator which over the course of a couple months, lengthened and straightened his bone. The International Center for Limb Lengthening at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore specialize in deformity correction and limb lengthening so when it came time to start his lengthening journey, staying in Baltimore for a period of time was necessary and led us to our 67 night stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Maryland.
It's challenging finding the right words to express our gratitude for the generosity and kindness we were shown while staying at the RMH. It provides so much more than just a roof over your head. From the home cooked meals, activities for the kids every. single. night., the volunteers, the games, the toys, the playroom, the arts and crafts, the snacks, the toiletries, the batteries and tools we needed randomly, and most importantly, the unwavering support from the community of people you are constantly surrounded by there, it's unlike anything we've ever experienced. To be able to focus solely on Joey and nothing else, was invaluable. The RMH has turned the most difficult time our family has faced into an experience we look back on and smile. We would not have been able to navigate his lengthening journey without them.
Although we could ever fully repay them for what they provided our family, we would like to try again! We will be traveling back to Baltimore for the SECOND year to run in the 5K in April and the kids are pumped to run across the finish line in their red and white stripes and Joey in his cape to honor all the strong kids who have stayed at the House while undergoing treatments. Our goal is to raise $6,700 representing the 67 nights we stayed at the house. We are asking you to please consider making a donation on Joeys behalf to help the house continue providing this support for families like ours.

Thank you for supporting the Ronald McDonald House’s mission of keeping families together when they need it most and is what makes RMH the House that Love Built.
