My Story
Many of you may not know this, but I am an infantry combat veteran who served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 2005-2009. I was deployed for OIF in 2007 and OEF in 2008. Our battalion (2/7) lost many lives during those two deployments.
After an honorable discharge from the Marines in 2009, loss continued to follow. Suicide became a normal occurrence within 2/7 as countless veterans took their lives over the coming years.
I carry a heavy sadness for those who have fallen and the families left behind. I have always wanted to honor my brothers from 2/7, but never had a clear idea of how to properly honor them. Until now.
In 2024, I plan to race the Marine Corps Marathon for the Historic Half Marathon in May and the Marine Corps Marathon in October.
I also plan to run every day in 2024, with a Marine Corps flag with fallen service members names written on the flag, honoring each Marine I served with who is no longer here. I will carry their names with me every single day of 2024 as a reminder and to honor them.
This objective isn’t political nor is it jingoism. It is simply my way of honoring my brothers who I loved dearly. I will also provide links in my bio to a few organizations that do work for wounded and fallen veterans, as well as those struggling with PTSD.
