I am participating in The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's Sprint for Life 5k Run/Walk on May 3, 2025, but more importantly, I am joining the fight to end ovarian cancer. It is a critical time for ovarian cancer research. Funding is needed to power science.
This year, according to the National Cancer Institute, more than 19,680 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and about 12,740 women will die in the United States. There is no effective way to screen for early detection of ovarian cancer, and symptoms are subtle — only about 20% of ovarian tumors are detected before they have progressed to an advanced stage.
Early detection improves survival rates to more than 90 percent before ovarian cancer spreads beyond the ovary. Education is key to early diagnosis.
Please join me in the fight to end ovarian cancer and raise as much money as possible to fund research and awareness efforts.
