PEDAL THE CAUSE is a wonderful local organization responsible for kick-starting tremendous new cures and tools in Cancer research! Every new tool begins as an idea from our amazingly smart Siteman researchers, who need the funds to gain enough traction to receive the bigger funding necessary to hit a home run! Just like the 'Car-T Cell Therapy' which I personally received TWO YEARS ago resulting in my remission/cure, these ideas begin in a lab, progressing on small funds until it becomes obvious that they will actually provide a cure for someone like me! I am feeling GREAT, and in return, I want to reach out so more of these promising research ideas can come to fruition! We are losing too many wonderful people to different cancers that could be curable! The researchers at Siteman are some of the smartest, and can do it with our financial help.
Of course, the doctors are my heroes - starting with Dr. Nancy Bartlett, the honored captain of the Bartlett's Bikers team, and my straight-shooting, brilliant guide through this whole experience. Additionally, I give an enthusiastic shout out to Dr. Amanda Cashen, who heads the Cellular Therapy program, through which I got my Car-T therapy. So many others at Siteman were there for me, including the tremendous Barnes West County infusion team, who pumps up my immunity every 6 weeks. And BIG hugs and kisses to my own personal oncologist, Dr. Michael Kramer, who helped every single step along the way, adding information and support, and bringing all these smart people together for me. Thanks as well to my incredible family, Robert, Lauren, Matt, Sara, Stephanie and Peter, whose love and help and encouragement made my recovery so much easier, and who are the BEST cheerleaders.
