My husband, Paul, and I walked twice in the Turtle Trek. I could not bring myself to do it last year after his passing in February, but am excited to get out to Isle of Palms and do it again! I hope you can please support me in my Run for the Turtles!
We have been supporters of the South Carolina Aquarium and its efforts to rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles for years. Paul introduced me to this as he fell in love with the Aquarium on a visit to Charleston before he moved here.
All seven species of sea turtles are listed as threatened or endangered, four of which are found off the coast of South Carolina. To help ensure that sea turtles have a future in our oceans, the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Rescue Program aids sick and injured sea turtles in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
To date, the Aquarium has rehabilitated and released over 300 sick and injured sea turtles back to their natural habitat. With your support, we can continue efforts to sustain these species into the next century and beyond.
