Description
The Race to Embrace Independence is a fun, healthy, family-friendly and festive neighborhood celebration to support and highlight the successes of Marian House women moving from dependence to independence. Your participation helps raise vital funds for housing, food, clothing, education, life skills, employability training, counseling and other necessary support services for homeless women and children.
ENTRY FEES
Adult 5K - $35 ($40 after September 19)
Adult 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk - $35 ($40 after September 19)
Child (Under 12) 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk - $20 (price discount will be applied at checkout)
Do you want to add $20 to your registration and sponsor a Marian House Woman for the race? You can choose to do so during the registration process.
There are no refunds or transfers of registration fees permitted for this event.
Each participant, regardless of age, must complete an entry form and sign a release.

Race-Day Registration
Starting at 7:30 a.m. Race starts at 9:00 a.m. (Rain or Shine)
Family Race Village at Lake Montebello, Baltimore City
AMENITIES
All pre-registered participants will receive a Marian House 5K performance T-shirt. Keep in mind tech t-shirts are often fitted, so please consider ordering a size up. Join us before and after the race at the Family Race Village for food, entertainment, music, raffles and awards across the age categories. Fun for the whole family!
On-course water stations, on-site medical assistance, and porta-potties will be provided.
COURSE
Begins at Baltimore’s Lake Montebello, goes to Marian House on Gorsuch Avenue, and ends at Lake Montebello. The Family Fun Run will be one mile around the lake.
For the safety of all participants, NO roller blades, roller skates, skateboards, scooters, or bicycles are permitted in either event. Strollers are allowed.
AWARDS
Performance awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers overall and to the top three finishers in each of the following age categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-79 and 80 & over.
Prizes will also be awarded for the top individual and team fundraiser.
VIRTUAL RUN
Pick your starting and finish line to run, walk, hike or bike during race week-Sunday, September 22nd through Saturday, September 28th
We’ll email you a downloadable race bib pre-race, send you a t-shirt post-race and share special raffle promotions exclusively for our virtual runners.
BENEFICIARY
Marian House is a holistic, healing community for women and their children who are in need of housing and support services. Marian House provides a safe, sober, and loving environment that challenges women to respect and love themselves, confront emotional and socioeconomic barriers, and transition to stable and independent lives. Marian House is located in the Better Waverly community of Baltimore City and has been serving women and their children from across the state of Maryland since 1982.
