Outrun ON

I have decided to join the Occipital Neuralgia Foundation to Outrun ON!  This virtual event will be taking place from July 15 - July 18.  The last day of this virtual run, July 18, marks 6 years since my injury.  At the age of 13, I was injured in a softball game and was left with a concussion, neck sprain, and whiplash.  After years of being confined to my bedroom due to the severe 24/7 pain, I decided to start advocating for all of us warriors.  I created the Occipital Neuralgia Foundation because I was tired of being told that my pain was not real or was brought on by stress because I was an 'anxious teenager.'  After my first surgery, it was quite apparent that there was severe damage to my occipital nerves and I was not, in fact, an anxious teenager.  Through ONF, we have shared over 50 personal stories and have connected with thousands of people from all over the world who are also struggling to find pain relief.  Fortunately, I am at a place now where my pain is more bearable, however, I still remain in constant pain.  I am going to keep fighting until the day that I, along with all of the other Occipital Neuralgia warriors, are pain free.
