This year, Isla and I are running together to raise money for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, and I can’t think of a more meaningful person to have by my side.

Isla has grown up alongside autism. She knows the beautiful parts, the hard parts, the unpredictable parts, and the parts most people never see. She has learned patience and compassion in ways I wish she didn’t have to learn so young. But most of all, she absolutely loves her brothers.

Keaton and Grady experience the world very differently, and communication, regulation, safety, and simply getting through an ordinary day can sometimes require extraordinary support. Through all of it, Isla is their sister…the one who celebrates them, adapts with them, makes them laugh, and loves them exactly as they are.

So this run is for them.

A mom and a little sister, running for the two boys who changed our entire world.
