Help support Bigger Than The Trail (501c3), a mental health non-profit, as I prepare to run in the Antelope Canyon Half-Marathon!
I've committed to raise money to support Bigger Than The Trail by registering as a Charity Bib for this event. Bigger Than The Trail uses trail running as a platform to advocate for mental health. They provide individuals with educational support and treatment options. They've been able to provide 2000+ months of free counseling ($500k+ value).
I am inspired by this cause because I have lived with my own mental health struggles for a long time now. I can't imagine getting through it without resources. I think we should be able to talk about mental health openly.
I was first diagnosed with panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and depression when I was 22. My former super power is never needing a near death experience because I could simply stand in a T.J. Maxx, certain I was dying. My former secondary super power was attempting a Siege of Orléans size battle to get and stay out of bed.
Luckily, I have had pretty steady access to resources (medication and therapy) where I'm able to maintain stability to the point where panic disorder no longer severely affects me. I am able to do things I love like run consistently, spend time with friends, and even small things that can be difficult with mental illness, like walking my boys.
Some people don't have access like you or I might have (and if you don't, please don't donate here; ily). It's obviously a huge public health issue. From a personal perspective, I never want anyone to feel so lost, afraid, isolated, hopeless, etc. Additionally, we should be able to talk about this stuff.
I hope you'll join me in an effort to help folks who are just like you and me.
I have until February 22, 2025, to reach my goal. Once I do, I'll be eligible to run!
Will you help me raise money to support this incredible mission?
