Hi everyone! For the third year in a row, I am charity runner for the Junior League of Boston. My goal is to raise $500 for this amazing organization of women. Why JL Boston? Great question! Please see below for that answer plus more!
First, what is the Junior League of Boston?
To quote our 2026–2028 President, Ashley Beaton, "Since 1906, this organization has been dedicated to one enduring mission: developing the potential of women, promoting volunteerism, and cultivating the next generation of leaders in Greater Boston. developing the potential of women, promoting volunteerism, and cultivating the next generation of leaders in Greater Boston." So, for 120 years we've been in Boston making a difference. We provide trainings to our members, go into the community and volunteer, and support our partnered organizations.
Can you provide specific examples of how JL Boston makes a difference in the community?
Sure can.
- JL Boston’s Done in a Day has partnered with over 50 non-profits to provide over 1000 hands-on volunteer hours. Some partners include Cradles to Crayons, Greater Boston Food Bank, The Jeremiah Program and Women's Lunch Place.
- We have the Junior League of Boston’s League Labs which are youth enrichment programs that help eliminate the cost of extracurriculars for Boston families.
- We also have amazing events like our Period Palooza. It's an annual menstrual product pack-a-thon in partnership with Dignity Matters where volunteers gather to pack thousands of essential care kits to fight period poverty and support women and girls in need.
So, in sum JL Boston is a group of woman who want to make a difference? And you, Lauren Chapman, are asking for funds to aid them in their mission?
