ABOUT Linsey House
In 2004, a small dedicated group from First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa began to examine the need to help homeless families in Tulsa, and discovered that mothers with children experiencing situational homelessness had limited resources in our community. The idea of Lindsey House was off and running.
In March of 2009, an independent Board of Directors was formed to incorporate Transitional Living Centers of Oklahoma, Inc. as a nonprofit in Oklahoma. After further planning and fundraising, TLC opened its first program in February 2010 when it purchased the former Saint Elizabeth’s Lodge from Catholic Charities. TLC opened the doors of Lindsey House, named after Lilah Lindsey, to mothers with children within weeks of acquiring the facility.
In 2020, we opened our new facility, where we were able to more than double the number of families we serve. Our offices also moved to the new building.
Lindsey House provides women financial literacy, life skills & workplace proficiency, so that families can overcome the impact of situational homelessness.
Our clients qualifications are:
*A family, headed by a woman, must be facing significant financial difficulties and be ready to change her life.
