Last year, I took on the Leadville Trail 100 Run pushing myself through 100 miles on foot in one of the toughest endurance races out there.
This year, I’m stepping back up to the start line… but with a different challenge and a bigger purpose.
Instead of running, I’ll be riding the Leadville Trail 100 MTB this time as part of the Chris Klug Foundation team, supporting a mission that goes far beyond the race itself.
100 miles. High altitude. Relentless terrain.
Most people would call it crazy… and they might be right.
But I’m not doing it just for the challenge I’m doing it for something much bigger.
I’ve been given the opportunity to ride as part of the Chris Klug Foundation team, an organization dedicated to raising awareness for organ, eye, and tissue donation. Their mission is simple but powerful: give more people a second chance at life.
And that’s what this ride represents for me.
Every mile I push through, every climb that hurts, every moment I want to quit there are people out there fighting for something far greater. Right now, over 100,000 people in the United States are waiting for a lifesaving transplant. Every single day, lives are lost simply because an organ wasn’t available in time.
That’s hard to ignore.
As a firefighter, I’ve seen firsthand how fragile life can be and how powerful it is when people come together to help others in their most critical moments. This is another way for me to serve, just in a different arena.
The reality is, one organ donor can save up to 8 lives and impact dozens more through tissue and eye donation. Yet despite overwhelming support for organ donation, too many people are still not registered.
That’s why I’m riding.
This race will challenge me physically and mentally in ways I haven’t experienced before but it’s nothing compared to what those waiting for a transplant are going through every single day.
I’m asking for your support not just for me, but for the people who are still waiting for their second chance.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps the Chris Klug Foundation continue their lifesaving work educating, registering donors, and moving us closer to a future where no one has to wait for a transplant.
If this ride can help even one person get that chance… it’s worth every mile.
CKF is making huge strides to educate people of all ages, with the goal of registering more individuals as organ donors across the U.S., in the hopes of one day eliminating the wait for transplant nationwide. Please help me raise the very important funds they need to continue their lifesaving mission. The smallest amount helps and 100% of your donation is tax-deductible. Donations can be made via credit card or check.
Thank you for being part of this mission.
