In memory of Derek, my nephew, I'm supporting people struggling with homelessness and substance use disorders by participating in the Your Miles for Milestone Challenge to benefit Milestone Recovery. I will be walking 50 miles and biking 20 miles.
Every year Milestone:
- Records 17,000 outreach contacts with people in Portland experiencing homelessness
- Provides 13,000 bed-nights of emergency shelter to people who would otherwise sleep on the streets
- Treats over 600 people at the only non-profit opioid and alcohol withdrawal program in Southern Maine that serves uninsured and underinsured people at no charge
- Places at least 15 people in permanent housing from chronic homelessness (3+ years)
- Provides long-term treatment with an average stay of 103 days; most other providers offer a maximum of 28 days.
Every day Milestone changes lives. Please help me be part of that change by making a small donation today.
