1 Mile Fun Run
Description
Melody Miles is a FUN family-friendly fundraising race that brings together runners, walkers, and music lovers in support of the award-winning Hoover High School Choir Program. With more than 200 students participating across 8 choirs, the program is a vital part of the school’s arts community.
Along the race route, participants will be cheered on with live music from student singers, creating a one-of-a-kind experience. The race begins and ends at Hoover High School, followed by post-race festivities featuring student singers, awards, and a silent auction. By joining us, you’ll enjoy a fun-filled morning while supporting music education and the arts at Hoover High School!

Packet Pickup
- Thursday, October 22 | 5:00–7:00 p.m.
Hoover High School in front of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) - Pre-race pickup is strongly encouraged! Picking up your packet on Thursday helps minimize congestion on race morning.
- Can't make it Thursday? Race-day packet pickup will be available on Saturday, October 24, from 7:00–7:45 a.m.
Race Day Schedule
Parking is available in the Hoover High School parking lot.
- 7:00 am – Packet Pickup Opens, Silent Auction Opens
- 7:30 am – Registration Closes
- 7:45 am – Packet Pickup Closes, Pre-Race Welcome
- 7:55 am – Race Start Countdown
- 8:00 am – Race Start
- 9:00 am – Race Finish (or when final runner has crossed the finish line)
- 9:30 am – Presentation of Awards, Silent Auction Closes
- 9:45 am – Silent Auction Winners Announced
- 10:00 am – Closing
Awards
5K Race
- Awards will be presented to the top finishers in the following categories:
- Overall: Top 3 finishers
- 12 & Under: Top 3 finishers
- Ages 13–18: Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female
- Ages 19–34: Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female
- Ages 35–49: Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female
- Ages 50+: Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female
- Age-group awards are based on the participant's age on race day.
- Each award winner will receive a Melody Miles 5K medal.
1 Mile Fun Run
- The 1-Mile Fun Run is a non-competitive event and does not have age-group or overall awards.
- Each fun run participant will recieve a Melody Miles bracelet.
After Party
- The fun doesn't stop at the finish line! Join us after the race for a celebration featuring performances by Hoover High School Choir students.
- Enjoy complimentary coffee from O'Henry's, water, and snacks while you celebrate with fellow participants.
- Something Simple Coffee + Sips will also be on-site with beverages available for purchase.
Silent Auction
- Don't miss our Silent Auction on race day! We'll have exciting items and goodies from local favorites, including Ross Bridge, Alabama Goods, Tap Ins, Kilwins, Bluff Park Diner, and more!
- Be sure to stop by, check out the items, and place your bids. It's a great way to support Hoover Choir while taking home something special!
- Payment tip: Bring cash or a check to pay for auction items without incurring payment processing fees.
Aid Stations
- First Aid available on site.
- Water stop locations will be located at the halfway mark and at the finish line.
