I am participating in the Seacoast Cancer 5K in the memory of my wife, Karen Hoover, who passed in 2020 at the too young age of 49 after giving her all in her battle with breast cancer. Karen was a loving mother and grandmother who always had a kind word for everyone that she interacted with. She is sorely missed by her family and pretty much everyone else that she ever came in contact with.
My fundraising has been directed to another cause for the past few years, but this year I realized that it was finally time to try to repay the Seacoast Cancer Center for the care that they provided to Karen while she was in treatment. I was and remain so grateful for the compassionate care that everyone associated with the Center gave to Karen. She was afforded dignity and respect at all times and by all of the caregivers, many of who became like a second family over the years of treatment.
I am not really a runner, and this is my first foray into a 5K in many years. I will try to ensure that I do Karen proud and do my best.
Thanks for all of the support
Matt
