IM OK Walk to END EPILEPSY - Austin

Justin and I were laughing and joking around just this week about something inane and I made a joke about having a seizure, as I do. His response was to look at me and say, “well, this is what you look like right before you have a seizure.” I stopped and thought, he was absolutely right. I look like I do every other minute of the day. Then, in one second it is not a normal day, or a normal week, or even a normal few months.

This is what people with epilepsy and their family members, loved ones, caretakers and friends deal with every second. Some get the luxury, as I do, of being on a medication cocktail that lets them forget most of the time, but others don’t. 

A seizure could happen-NOW! Or-NOW! You get it. It’s like having your weird uncle whose only pleasure in life is to scare you to death living with you, following you around, and you never know when or where he’s going to jump out and scream at you. He’s just always in the back of your head. 

The nagging feeling we can’t shake is the never-ending chapter of our story that comes after my initial diagnosis. Am I still an epileptic unicorn? Yes, of course I am, ask my doctor. If you want to learn more about the early days that’s here.
