Hi everyone,
I am extremely excited, proud, and nervous to say I will finally be fulfilling a dream of mine and running the New York City Marathon.
A little over two years ago, right when the world shut down due to COVID, I was looking for something to bring some light to a pretty uncertain time in life. Through this search, I found an opportunity to accomplish my goal of running a marathon, while raising money for a cause incredibly important to me. I got a spot running in the 2020 New York City Marathon with the Hope for the Warriors Team. A little over three months after registering, the 2020 Marathon was cancelled.
I was devastated for all the runners who had been training, but we were granted eligibility to run in the marathon during the three years to follow. So, two years after my original plan I can finally say training is back on!
While there are many miles of training ahead for me, the most important aspect of this whole experience is the opportunity I have to raise money for the non-profit Hope for the Warriors. Hope for the Warriors provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources.
This amazing organization supports both veterans and their families in restoring their sense of self, family, and hope when transitioning out of the service. This cause is extremely important to my family and I and it is the biggest blessing to represent them in New York City on November 6th.
Any donation can go a long way for this organization! To give you an idea of what a donation can do:
- $25 Funds a veteran’s resiliency training to lower the effects of stress after service.
- $50 Provides essential groceries and fuel to food-insecure military families.
- $100 Keeps a family together during a veteran’s in-patient treatment.
- $500 Provides critical resources to a military family facing homelessness.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this cause in 2020 and thank you in advance to anyone who considers donating this year! Happy Running!
