Pedal the Cause

Dear Colleagues, Friends and Family,

This year marks my 5th year riding for Pedal the Cause, and this ride carries a special purpose. On September 20, I'll be riding 63 miles in honor of Rosa "Rosie" De Santiago Quezada, my friend Claudia's mother, who passed away this July after a sudden and heartbreaking battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Rosie was a woman whose warmth made life brighter for everyone around her. She was caring and generous, always ready to lend a hand or offer comfort. She loved cooking for others, nourishing people with meals that were truly expressions of love. Her creativity showed through her music, gardening, painting, and knitting. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of family, kindness, and cherished memories.

Her diagnosis came in April, and by then the cancer had already advanced too far. Despite the short time between diagnosis and her passing, she was surrounded by her loved ones — a blessing that reflects the deep love she gave throughout her life.

This year, I ride for Rosie. I ride for Claudia and her family. And I ride because cancer continues to take too much, too quickly, from too many.

Pedal the Cause is one of the most impactful cancer‑fighting organizations in our region. 100% of every donation — truly every dollar — goes directly to innovative cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. These funds help launch groundbreaking studies, accelerate new treatments, and give families hope where there often isn't enough.
