I AM TOUGH RUCKING FOR AMERICA'S FALLEN MILITARY & FIRST RESPONDERS
This April, I will be joining Tough Ruck Nation to complete a marathon with a weighted rucksack (backpack). Tough Ruck 26.2 Boston is an elite group of 1000 who ruck to HONOR AMERICA'S FALLEN MILITARY & FIRST RESPONDERS. We humbly carry the names of the Fallen on our rucks as they will NEVER BEEN FORGOTTEN. We will also be raising critical funds for our Warriors. This is where we need your help! The basic ideal that drives our efforts is simple: as much as our Warriors have sacrificed, they and their families deserve the best care and support available in their hour of need. Your tax deductible donation literally provides a lifeline to a Warrior.
My name is Pete McMahon, and I am proud to participate in this year’s Tough Ruck. I served six years in the U.S. Army, including combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2004, I was awarded the Purple Heart after sustaining wounds when my vehicle struck an IED in Iraq. During my military career, I served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the 1st Infantry Division, and in the Army Reserves.
After being honorably discharged in 2009, I continued my commitment to public service as a Professional Firefighter/EMT for the City of Holyoke and later as a Massachusetts State Trooper. I medically retired from the State Police in 2023.
In retirement, I realized my dedication to serving others wasn’t over. I am now a full-time student at Springfield College, studying Psychology. My ultimate goal is to earn a doctorate in clinical psychology and work with veterans and first responders who are battling PTSD and substance abuse issues.
