16th Annual Turkey Trot 5K & 10K

Join TWIN RIVERS YMCA for our 16th Annual Turkey Trot 5K and 10K on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Taberna Golf and Country Club (401 Taberna Way New Bern, NC).  Our 5K route is perfect for families, strollers, and leashed dogs and will be open to timed and untimed runners and walkers.  The 10K is geared towards the competitive runner and is open to timed runners only.  Participants can also complete the 10k or 5K at any location between November 23rd and November 25th by choosing the virtual option!  You can choose to run or jog in your neighborhood or at a park. If you want to get creative, you could even hike, walk your dog, or use your treadmill to complete the race.


5K: $33 (by October 31st)
      $38 (beginning November 1st)
      $40 (RACE DAY – November 23th)

10K: $38 (by October 31st)
         $43 (beginning November 1st)
         $45 (RACE DAY – November 23th)  

Kid’s Dash: $16
Children 12 and under will race the 40 yard dash and give it all they can!
All Kid’s Dash participants will receive a t-shirt and medal.

Virtual 10k & 5k: $33 (by October 31st)
                   $38 (beginning November 1st)
                   $40 (RACE DAY – November 23th-25th)

Sign up for the virtual race and we will have the t-shirt available for pick-up at the YMCA or select to have it shipped to you.

**Transaction fees are included in price.  -Cotton Long Sleeve T-shirts included with race entry unless selecting a tech (dry-fit) shirt, to which there is an add on charge of $8.00.  -T-shirts included. Limited quantity available.  **Sizes only guaranteed if you register by October 20th.  NO REFUNDS, NO TRANSFERS

Tuesday, November 21st, 4:30pm - 6:30pm

10K: 6:00-7:30 AM (10K starts at 7:45 AM)
5K: 6:00 - 7:45 AM (5K starts at 8:00 AM)
Kid’s Dash: 6:00-8:30 AM (Kid’s Dash starts at 9:15 AM)
Awards (10K/5K): 8:45 AM


Awards will be given to the top overall 3 male & 3 female finishers for each race, 5k & 10k. (in person and virtual)

Awards will also be given to the top (3) male and (3) female in each of the following categories (in person):
Age Groups (5K): 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over, top (3) overall dog jog and top (3) overall stroller run.
Age Groups (10K): 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over
Best Dressed

Kid’s Dash: All participants will receive a medal.


Event Day Information:
· Questions? You may visit our registration table or approach anyone in a bright yellow volunteer shirt.
· Parking is free. Parking will be available in the Subdivision of Taberna.
· Dog owners – all dogs must be on a fixed / non-retractable leash, and owners are required to pick up after their dogs throughout the duration of the event. Poop bags and trash cans will be available and dog water stations will be available along the route.

We will be offering a virtual run in addition to the normal in-person event.

How it Works
Sign up here (use the Sign Up button at the top of the page).
Print out your digital bib (from your Runsignup profile page) if you'd like.
Download the RaceJoy app for the best race experience.
Run your race at a place of your choosing (including a treadmill) before the deadline. If you use RaceJoy, it will automatically submit your results. If not, go to the results page and submit your time.

Virtual Race FAQs
What is a virtual run?

A virtual race is an event where you sign up and participate on a course of your choosing (or a treadmill).  This is a great opportunity to work towards your running goals, stay healthy, and support a great cause!

The event will feature a leaderboard so you can still see how you stack up against your fellow competitors!

Where do I run?

You can run at a course of your choosing, including on a treadmill. 

When do I run?

You can run (or walk) anytime on November 23-25, 2023.

Will this race be timed?

The virtual run will not be officially timed, but by using the RaceJoy app, you can receive a GPS-based time which will automatically submit your time for you. There will be an online leaderboard showing everyone's times.

How do I post my results?

The easiest way is to use RaceJoy during the race! If you choose not to use RaceJoy, then you can visit the results page and click the "Submit Virtual Results" link at the top of the page.

When/how will I get my swag?

Swag can be picked up on Monday, November 20th, 11:00 – 3:00 PM and Tuesday, November 21st, 4:30-6:30 PM at TWIN RIVERS YMCA
