"Peter's Run 5K Race & The Bryant Mile" is hosted by the Rose of Sharon Laymen's League in Bear Grass NC. The 5K race will be for runners that enjoy the spirit of competition. We will recognize the winners in all age groups for both men and women. The date will be April 16th, 2022. It will be professionally managed by "Run The East Timing".
The Bryant Mile will be for those that would like to walk in support of the Project. It is named after and in memory of Pastor Bryant Hines who went to be with the Lord in 2017. Pastor loved to take his church members on field trips and always found a way to end those trips with a quick stop at Krispy Kreme. We will take note of this habit during the walk as the participants will stop and eat a donut at the halfway point.
This is a fundraiser whose profit will go to aid Project Empty Tomb which help meet the needs each year for the Bear Grass Charter School's Food Pantry and the Rodgers Elementary Book Bag Program. It's also our hope that the success of this fundraiser will enable us to expand to helping others in need in our community.
Besides the fundraiser, the goal is also to draw attention to the Empty Tomb as April 17th, 2022 will be Easter Sunday. Part of the event will be a short devotion praising God and acknowledging the fact that as Peter ran to that tomb on that first Easter he found it to be empty.

Thanks to everyone who is supporting our 2021 race by signing up for the Bryant Mile and Peter’s Run. It looks like we will grow the event this year which is quite amazing considering the Covid-19 atmosphere we currently find ourselves in.
Speaking of Covid, we will be practicing social distancing during check-in and during awards. This means we will change some of our procedures for tomorrow.
1. You will be parking by the new sanctuary.
2. You will walk in front of the church to the fellowship Hall where we are asking you to sanitize your hands which will be on a table.
3. We are asking everyone to wear a mask while checking in and maintain social distancing while waiting on the start time.
4. After you are finish racing, there will be bagged recovery food (Sausage Dogs and Cookies & Water) at the sanitizing table. We are asking that you sanitize your hands again on the way out.
5. After gathering your food, we are asking you to go back to your cars and wait for other racers to finish. We will be presenting medals on that side of the church.
We appreciate your patience with these procedures, but we are trying to do our part in keeping everyone safe. We will miss much of the pre- and post-race fellowship but we will certainly try and make up for it next year as we plan to add some extras next year like a kid’s race.
Thanks again, and we will see you tomorrow!
