The vision of this annual event came ALIVE! after witnessing great success during the 50th anniversary celebration in September 2016. This community-driven annual event is designed to ensure all community members have a sense of belonging and seeks to change the narrative from within the diverse boundaries of the neighborhood. Members seek to create new, safe, and positive shared experiences in which all generations can gather around healthy food, various forms of physical activities, music, culture, community voice, and more. The community desires an awakening – to show the greater Denver metro area that Montbello is ALIVE! with a vibrant, hopeful spirit.
The first Montbello ALIVE! on Saturday, September 23, 2017 will feature a 5K and 1.5 Mile Fun Run and a FEASTival. The event will convene around the Montbello Campus and Montbello Central Park. This central Montbello location will allow community to both honor and reflect upon the past, yet embrace the changing future of this beloved, evolving community.
The races are located at 5000 Crown Boulevard. The 5K will launch at 9:30am, with the one mile walk to follow at 9:45am; this community run will loop the campus on sidewalk (and a small length of grass). The 5K will loop the campus twice, the walkers will loop once. This race is for all ages!
Immediately following the races, join everyone on campus to enjoy healthy foods through various vendors, speak with community partners and resources, dance and sing to local musicians, celebrate the different cultures of those around you, and continue to move your body using many different forms of exercise. Bring the entire family to this free event and have fun together!
