Our event is the 2018 RRCA Maine State Championship 5k
There will be live music, food, awards and the best post race raffle around. We will be having a free kids fun run at 8:30 am with the first 100 registered kids receiving a tee and medal. The first 400 pre-registered for the 5k will receive soft cotton tees and canvas event totes filled with goodies! All 5K participants are entered in our large raffle! The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9:00 am. The event will start and finish in Memorial Park in Scarborough.
5k awards will be given to the 1st and 2nd overall male and female runners as well as 1st and 2nd place in 10 year age groups. There will be a Wheel Chair (male/female), 1st and 2nd place Veteran (Male/Female), fastest employee (Male/Female), 1st and 2nd place Team category.
Our 5k (3.1 mile) course is USATF certified and is marked well with arrows and mile markers, our water stop is roughly the half way point.
This event is non-profit and all proceeds go directly to the Maine Veterans Home Scarborough Activity department.
Day of registration is $20 (tees and totes will no longer be available). Participants who pre-registered can pickup their packets at the Maine Veterans Home (290 US Route One Scarborough) on Friday 3 pm-8 pm or Saturday 7 am -11 am or starting at 7:45 am on Sunday in Memorial park (1 Durant Drive, Scarborough) You may want to allow time to bring your tote/tee back to your car, parking is at Scarborough High School 1/10 of a mile up from Memorial Park.
Refreshments in the park include: Bagels from Union Bagel, Doughnuts from Holy Doughnut, Bananas and snacks from Hannaford, and homemade chocolate chip cookies by Cathy Koenig. Local Coffee, water and Gatorade will be available in the park.
Strollers are welcome. Friendly pups are welcome. Water bowls will be in the park and at the water stop.
