The story of Steven Siller: a true heroes ultimate sacrifice
Stephen Siller, a father of five children and husband to Sally, had finished his overnight shift and was on his way to golf with his brothers when he heard the news of the attack on his radio.
He immediately turned his truck around to head to the World Trade Center.
Upon reaching the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he found it closed due to the unfolding crisis.
Without hesitation, Siller strapped 60 pounds of firefighting gear to his back and ran through the tunnel.
He ran toward the burning towers, where he is believed to have died while attempting to rescue others.
