I met Dawn S. in Greece in 2010. We were both there to run the Athens Marathon. It was a FANTASTIC race. We then spent a week traveling to different historic landmarks and gorgeous hotels around Greece, eating food and recovering. It was a trip to remember. I have photos somewhere......it was pre-Instagram so they are probably tucked in a box somewhere.
14 years later I am so pleased to meet up with Dawn again and support her charity work. Crossing off another state on my 50 Marathons in 50 States list alongside this amazing human is just a bonus.
The mission of "In My Running Shoes" is below. Please join me in making sure people who want to be active in the face of a chronic disease have the tools they need to do that. In my theater career I'm the Artistic Director for "The Bridge initiative", with a mission to build bridges in theater. When I saw the IMRS mission holds the same verbiage, how could I not support them?
Won't you join me? Let's change the world together.

In My Running Shoes recognizes the connection between physical activity and managing a lifelong chronic illness. Physical activities such as walking, running, yoga, cycling, hiking, group fitness classes, swimming, strength training and other fitness activities are important to promoting our physical and mental well-being and are often a source of our social networks.
We are committed to helping people with chronic illnesses stay active and engaged in their communities, and we recognize that health insurance often does not cover all of those needs. Our goal is to bridge this gap. We do this by writing grants to help people with chronic diseases purchase the medical devices, athletic equipment, training or rehab they may need to stay active.
