We are trying to build this event as a community book drive in addition to a charity run. As such, on site book donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Books can be brought to the event (new books only) or purchased at the event from several authors as well as Scholastic, and all donors that put a new book into the ECBC Book Donation Box (at the ECBC booth) will receive a voucher for a free pancake breakfast. If you would like to donate gently used books, please bring used books to the donation box at the Kids READ! Booth (Kids READ! Is an Orange County based nonprofit that brings thousands of books each year to kids in need.) CHOC Children’s Hospital can only take brand new books, so please don’t put used books in the ECBC Book Donation Box.
$20 Donation: Provides a Hardcover Children’s Book for CHOC Children's Hospital.
$100 Donation: Provides a Read+Think+Thrive Box for a New Cancer Diagnoses at CHOC Children's Hospital.

Ethan & Choco’s Book Club (ECBC) was founded by Leukemia warrior Ethan after he noticed that books and reading were missing from the hospital experience of patients at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange County. ECBC is working on building a library and reading program at CHOC, with the goal to make access to books and reading part of patients’ everyday care. Currently, ECBC is running a bedside reading program in patient rooms, a mobile book cart for patients in isolation, and is gifting books to patients in a variety of ways (e.g., curated book boxes for new cancer diagnoses, monthly book give-away parties, BOO-KS for Treats on Halloween). ECBC recognizes that literacy support for children fighting cancer and other life-threatening conditions can help promote cognitive development and social connections that are part of thriving through treatment and beyond.
