Description

Free the Elves!

The 7th annual Run That Shall Not Be Named 5 3/4 K Fun Run will be held on Friday, July 28. This noncompetitive* 5K will take participants on a magical journey through the Kent State University campus to kick off Kent's Wizardly Weekend 2023, with many fun activities scheduled for Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29 in downtown Kent. Participants are highly encouraged to dress in themed costumes for this event.

The 5K will begin at 6:00pm on the Lester Lefton Esplanade and take runners on a spellbinding loop though some of Kent State's most magnificent places. Registration is $30 and all participants will receive a commemorative “Run That Shall Not Be Named” 5 3/4 K medal, bib, and socks - to free the elf of your choice. Registration is limited to the first 250 wizards, witches, and muggles.

Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent. For more information, please contact Main Street Kent or Race Director, Ed Butch, at info@mainstreetkent.org.

Wizardly Weekend is sponsored by Meijer, Summa Health, Acorn Alley, College Town Kent, Hometown Bank, Portage Community Bank, Central Portage County VCB, Off the Wagon, and Thresholds Group.

* The noncompetitive race will not be “chip timed”; runners may have to slow down for moving vehicles at road crossings; the course will be staffed with police officers and volunteers to assist with safe crossing.
