Lake Michigan is an irresistible attraction to me - I try to be in or near the water almost every day. I'm a lifelong swimmer and the freshwater of the Great Lakes have been my homebase for getting comfortable and exploring open water swimming. I've had the story and song of the Edmund Fitzgerald memorized since I was a kid, and the opportunity to merge these two passions is truly once-in-a-lifetime! Swimming across Whitefish Bay in frigid Lake Superior is going to be a bucket list achievement for sure!
This swim is a big adventure and opportunity for me, and I am grateful for those who want to support me as I work to meet my fundraising goal to preserve the Whitefish Point Lighthouse that safeguards mariners along Lake Superior's "Shipwreck Coast."
I wanted to make it fun - so I've made some fun tiers to encourage and reward you for donating!
All donations $25 and up receive a hand-written thank you card that includes a real-live scrap of a swimsuit WORN BY ME whilst swimming in best of all Great Lakes, Lake Michigan!
$100 - "The Cavic Level" - I will call, Zoom or try and meet you in-person and serenade you to a heartful, memorized rendition of the famous ballad "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot
$250 - "The Lochte Level" - All the benefits of Cavic Level plus I will swim a letter or simple (safe-for-work!) shape in Lake Michigan which you can view on a Strava map!
$500 - "The Ledecky Level" - All the benefits of Lochte Level plus I will get a custom temporary tattoo (from the website Inkbox) and put it on a visible part of my body during the actual swimming event (can be a picture of you, or your name, or some else appropriate)
$1,000 - "The Phelps Level" - All the benefits of Ledecky Level plus I will swim 500 yards in Lake Michigan in any outfit of your choosing (minimum coverage would be that of a Speedo!)
