Solar energy is an ideal source of clean, low-cost electricity, but the high upfront costs of implementation serve as a barrier to accessibility. SolarEquity works to change that.
Low-income households face a disproportionately higher energy burden, and through our projects, we facilitate access to solar energy and lower energy bills for the communities most heavily impacted by climate change.
UNC-CH Undergraduate Student Government's Environmental Affairs department aims to support and uplift student organizations that facilitate environmental advocacy, environmental justice, and renewable energy efforts. With exciting upcoming projects for SolarEquity, they decided to find a way to support and raise funds for the nonprofit, and what better way than a 5K! The Solar Strides 5K is also sponsored by Fleet Feet-Carborro and UNC Campus Recreation.
100% of funds raised will go to SolarEquity's current projects at TABLE, Inc., St. Joseph CME Church, and Big Ivy Community Center!
