Connecticut Muslim Running Club (CTMRC) is excited to participate in the New Haven IRIS Run for Refugees. Though we are new to the running scene, our dedication to helping the community is deeply ingrained. We are running to raise funds for IRIS, an organization that provides essential services to close to 2,000 refugees and immigrants each year.
IRIS’s work during the pandemic was extraordinary, helping over 120 refugees and immigrants find employment, providing $200,000 in rental assistance, teaching English, art, and music, and feeding over 300 families per week with groceries from their food pantry. IRIS’s mission is to enable refugees and immigrants to establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut’s communities. These refugees come from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, Congo, and more, seeking safety and a fresh start.
By joining CTMRC, you’re not only helping us build a stronger running community but also supporting IRIS in their efforts to provide housing, food, clothing, education, healthcare, and legal aid to displaced families. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and help refugees rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
