My dear friend Monica Dodd, that I teach with was recently diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma. This cancer is rare and develops in the thin layer of tissue lining the abdomen. On January 18th, Monica will be undergoing an intense 18-22 hour surgery to remove organs that have been affected as well as to try to eliminate more cancer cells after chemo the last few months. Our prayer group has been diligently praying for Monica and will continue to do so. There also has been a fund raiser created to help Monica's family with all of her expenses. This is where Miles for Monica comes in. I will be walking and logging miles from now until April in honor of Monica. A group of teachers from Brookwood will also be doing the Shamrock 8K in her honor.
First and foremost, please pray for Monica, her family and her doctors. Pray for peace, wisdom and elimination of ALL of the cancer in her body. Secondly, if you are able, I would greatly appreciate any donation that you can make to help Monica's family.
