The impact of suicide runs far and deep in all of us, the survivors. We can't blame a disease, the cancer, the drunk driver, and we don't want to blame our loved one that we are so overwhelmingly missing. We are lost in so many moments, hanging on to our memories, wishing there was something we could do, as we would do anything, ANYTHING, to bring back our loved ones. And when the tragedy hits yet another person, we all wish there was something we could have done to prevent it, stop that next awful, heart wrenching, terrible tragedy from happening again to anyone else. These stories have become all too familiar, too common, happening too often. I am choosing to walk in this event to support those memories of all who have gone before us, too soon. Maybe today is the day that you choose to join me on this walk, to donate to this organization or another supporting suicide outreach and prevention, or to call that friend or family member you have been meaning to, just to see how they are doing. If you can join me on Sunday, September 10, together we will walk, to support each other, to hug, to laugh, and you know we will also cry, but we will do it together. Together we will take each step knowing that this walk will support educational awareness for middle and high schoolers, giving us hope that there will be one less family impacted as we were, as we are, as we hope to never be again.
