In 2010, I created what was then called the Chick-fil-A First 100 Skate-A-Thon — and it was a little crazy! 😂 We skated from 10:30 PM until 6 AM, with only five-minute breaks, longer the more money you raised. I was the organizer & DJ, and while I jumped in to skate a little, this former roller-skating diva loved every minute of watching our community roll through the night together.
Sixteen years later, I’m so proud that the event is still rolling! Thankfully, they’ve figured out how to include a whole lot more people, provide a little less torture 😂 & raise more money than we ever did in those early days.
Today, Skate for Chicken supports Angels of America’s Fallen, helping the children of our fallen military & first responders pursue the activities & dreams that help shape their lives. That makes this crazy little event I started all those years ago mean even more to me.
This year I’ll be rolling alongside my kids, Delanie & Levi, our friends & community, with Daniel forever in our hearts & minds, he loved being a part of this event. ❤️
