Medals
All event finishers will receive this amazing military themed finisher medal! And if you place in our award categories you will receive magnetic clip medallions to decorate your finisher medal! Come back each year to accumulate more medals to further decorate your finisher medal!
For past participants of the event we will be substituting your finisher medal for a 2024 clip on star medal so you can fill up your medal!
Course
We are a USATF certified course!
The race will take place on the grounds of a once secret military munitions compound, which supplied our military with explosives to help the United States win peace for the world during WW2. Our venue was then used to store many other military weapons throughout the mid to late 1900s. Now the Vermillion Rise Mega Park which has been repurposed for local industry retains many remnants and evidence of Military ruins and manufacturing facilities!
Come join the Vermillion Trails Alliance at your most unique Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k as you race on paved roads past old outposts, TNT manufacturing buildings, VX nerve gas storage facilities, and military shooting ranges. The entirety of the Half Marathon and 5k will take place on a single loop taking you throughout the Military compound. The fully certified Full Marathon is a 2 lap course.
The 1/2 Marathon course will have 4 water / aid stations spaced approximately every 2.5 - 3 miles apart. The 2 lap Full Marathon will have 8 water / aid stations. The 5k water / aid station is approximately 1/2 way into the 5k.
There will also be a port-o-potty for 1/2 marathon participants located at approximately mile 7 on the race course. The full marathon will hit this stop at mile 7 and mile 20. There will also be port o potties at the finish line which the marathoner's will pass at mile 13.
Each water/aid station will have the following items available for all athletes:
- Water
- Gatorade
- Orange Slices
- Granola Bar Chunks
