Mark's Bio
Mark has been with Racine MultiSports since 2007, the beginning! Mark was on the team that started the Hagerstown Sprint Triathlon. He enjoyed doing that and began helping Ken with other local races. Mark’s Role on the team is Head Timer, Operations, and a little bit of everything else! His goals within Racine MultiSports is to continue to time races and help grow the business. Mark enjoys developing and implementing new technologies for Racine MultiSports, to enhance the racer and spectator experience. “Since starting working with Racine MultiSports, I have worked with so many great clients and learned so much about the dozens of details required to successfully execute a race. Even the simplest 5k involves countless hours of planning. I also have learned about lots of great races in the area, with numerous choices for first timers through the grizzly veteran racers.”
Mark’s day job is being a structural engineer at JLG Industries, designing mobile elevating work platforms and rough terrain forklifts. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is a registered Professional Engineer. Mark’s race history includes triathlons (sprint, international, half-IM, full-IM) and running races (5k, 10k, 15k, half marathon, marathon, 50k, 50 mile), and a goal of completing a few 50k trail running races. Outside of work and racing, Mark enjoys working with his wife Keely at their small farmette, taking care of their animals (2 horses, 2 ponies, 1 dog, 4 cats), growing produce in their vegetable garden, and hiking and biking as time permits.
Favorite Racine MultiSports race: “Ft. Ritchie Triathlon. Great venue for a race, feels remote but very close to Frederick, Baltimore, DC. Bike course is challenging but fair. Fun atmosphere for spectating with numerous times for friends and family to see the athletes during the race.”
