John Matherly is new to the RMS team in 2024. After living on the West coast for ten years he has made his return to the East via sailboat.  He Sailed from Oregon to Maryland with his wife and cat, a journey of 2.5 years which took them through Latin America, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean.

John competed at cross country and track in middle and high school and continues to enjoy the competitive spirit and sense of community found at running events.  A trail runner at heart, John is most at home running on single track in the mountains.  He has completed many 50ks, 3 marathons, and a sprint triathlon for good measure. As a part of the RMS team, John is excited to give back to the racing community that has brought him so much joy over the years.
