Donations benefit the I GOT LEGS: Grant Fund for paralyzed athletes to walk again. This is for my Friend John Payne. This is his story:
My name is John Payne and on June 28, 1998 I was paralyzed from the chest down in a mountain bike accident. After my accident I had, and continue to have, tremendous support from my friends and family and church family.
I have always been active since my accident, getting my first handcycle the month after I got home from rehab. In 2003 I started road racing in a racing wheelchair and have done any and every distance since then, from 5Ks to a 24 hour race where I completed 167 miles.
In October of 2019 I was blessed to get to marry my beautiful wife Sabrina.
In October of 2020 (I guess October is a good month for me) I was fortunate to get to trial a ReWalk Exoskeleton and stand and walk for the first time in over 20 years. It was an incredible experience.
Now I have the opportunity to get my own ReWalk Exoskeleton and I am launching a fundraising campaign to raise the funds to purchase my own ReWalk.
I am excited about this opportunity and beyond all the health benefits, like increased bone density, improved circulation, better posture, and many others, I just look forward to being able to take a walk around the neighborhood with my wife and our dogs.
**Please note, if individual's fundraiser is part of an IGL charity partner's team campaign, majority of funds donated will benefit that charity partner's organizations. Same applies for team campaigns for a specific person's exoskeleton or other item of need.
