I am participating in the 2026 Defeat Multiple Myeloma 5K / 1 Mile Run & Walk on Sunday, June 28th. While most participants will be gathering in Seattle, I will be walking Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. All supporters of the race are welcome to join me at the Lake Harriet bandstand at 8:30 a.m. CT.
Each donation plays a part in bringing myeloma treatment options to patients faster and helps fund research to find a cure for this cancer. Together, we are building community, supporting survivors, remembering loved ones lost, and funding science that is giving new hope to patients. We are committed, we are strong, and our impact can be enormous.

What is Multiple Myeloma?
Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells found in bone marrow. Normal plasma cells help the immune system fight disease, but when plasma cells become cancerous, they grow out of control and can produce a tumor called a plasmacytoma. If someone has more than one plasmacytoma, they have multiple myeloma.
Why support this event?
Defeat Myeloma’s mission is to raise awareness of multiple myeloma while supporting research that seeks to discover new treatments, improve the quality of life for myeloma patients, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating form of cancer. Funds from the 2026 Defeat Myeloma race will continue to support research at Fred Hutch involving the use of engineered immune cells called CAR T cells, an approach that has shown very promising early results for patients.
