The York Academy Regional Charter School is a nonprofit, tuition-free public charter school located in Downtown York that educates nearly 1,000 diverse students via the rigorous, world-class International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.

The Academy offers challenging academics along with innovative art, music, theater, and design/engineering programming within a caring, small school environment. Through the IB framework, the York Academy aims to develop inquiring, balanced, knowledgeable young people who help to create a better, more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Founded in 2011, the school is chartered by Central York, York City, and York Suburban School Districts. Students from about ten other districts are also enrolled.

The PTO is a parent-run organization that works closely with school staff. The PTO works to fund field trips, family fun nights, assemblies, classroom supplies, and more. Parents are invited to join and attend meetings anytime throughout the year.

York Academy PTO's objectives are:

  • To promote the welfare of the children in our schools
  • To improve conditions for children in school and the community
  • To bring about a closer relationship between parents/guardians and teachers so that they can work together in helping the children become outstanding citizens in the community
  • To secure the best advantages of physical, academic, and social education for each child
