Welcome to the Red River Road Runners membership page. We welcome and appreciate your support of the club.

Learn to Run! sessions were held in the Spring and Fall of 2023. Watch Facebook and your email for the dates and times for 2024.  

The 2024 Black Eyed Pea Prediction Run to be held January 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the Stoner Boat Launch right outside of the dog park.

2023 Winners: 1st Place with a guess of 34:00 mins and an actual time of 33:54 - Brad Armstrong (6 secs); 2nd Place with a guess of 33:00 and an actual time of 32:53 - Chris Dzurik (7 secs); 3rd Place with a guess of 30:00 and an actual time of 29:50 - Megann McDaniel (10 secs)

2022 Winners: 1st Place with a guess of 24:00 mins and an actual time of 24:07 - Chandler Burns (7 secs); 2nd Place with a guess of 50:27 and an actual time of 50:46 - Lynette Campisi (19 secs); 3rd Place with a guess of 22:11 and an actual time of 21:49 - Grant Sims (22 secs)

2021: Jeff Weeks won 1st with a prediction just 4 seconds from his finishing time. Megan McDaniel won 2nd with a 7 second differential and Kathy Wells won 3rd with an 11second gap. Congratulations to theses winners and all who participated!

2020: Robin Barr was closest to her estimated time and won $50; Bree Robichaux won $25 and Carole Garten won $20. Congratulations!

2019: Tony Bouso and Janet Bouso finished within 1 second of their predicted time for 1st and 2nd place. ($50 and $25) Third was shared between Arry Robichaux and Katie Tuggle who were only 5 seconds off their time. Each received $20.

The closest predictors of their times in 2018 were: Stephen Robicheaux (5 seconds), JT Perot & David Lohrey (10 seconds) and Steve Mikovich (19 seconds). These runners received $50, $25 and $20.

Dear Members:
Thank you for your support of the Red River Road Runners. We value your membership and participation in our local affiliate of the Road Runners Club of America. We are part of a national association of running clubs dedicated to promoting running as a competitive sport and as healthy exercise. 
 
The benefits of local membership include access to a number of low-cost, family-friendly club runs and activities some of which are discounted even further for our members. Please join in the fun!

2023
Here is our typical year:
Black Eyed Pea Prediction Run will be held January 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the Stoner Boat Launch. It is Free for RRRR members or $5 for non-members. Those who sign up for membership online before December 31st at 8 a.m. or in person race morning will be eligible to run for free. The registration/prediction form (see the Red River Road Runner Facebook page) can be filled out ahead but must be brought to the race...do not mail it in! The race distance is "to be announced". There are prizes for those closest to their predicted time.

Everyone enjoys homemade black-eyed peas, rice and cornbread after the race!  

"Learn to Run!" Beginner and Advanced Classes are held in the spring and fall at a nominal cost to members. Dates and times will be announced in an email to members and on the RRRR Facebook Page. 

*YOUth FIT is the perfect summer program for any child, 7-17 years old, who has the desire to learn the fundamentals of endurance running, challenge themselves through exercise, learn about health and well-being, practice goal-setting, make new friends, prepare for track or cross country season, or simply get involved in a healthy lifestyle sport. Tuesdays are YOUth FIT training days at Betty Virginia Park. Thursdays YOUth FIT participants in the summer fun runs ranging from 1 mile-5K 

May Picnic - In 2023, club members met for the annual picnic held at Betty Virginia Park where they enjoyed a FREE 5k run, purchased dinner from local food trucks that were on the premises and entertainment. Several door prizes were drawn, a few "races" were held for prizes and club members were acknowledged for their yearly accomplishments. Members also voted in the board members.

*Summer Fun Run Series of 8 Thursday night runs beginning June and ending July. These runs are held at various parks throughout the city starting at 6:45 p.m. Each year walkers and runners are welcome. Complete 5 of the 8 runs for a t-shirt. Complete all 8 for a special award.  
 
* Canada Day Run. We accept donations for our annual high school senior scholarship award. We enjoy cake and prizes! This was held at 6 p.m. at Betty Virginia Park. Watch your email for details when the 2024 date approaches. 
 
* Our signature event - the Riverside V which features 5 Mile and 5K runs. Cash prizes and age group prizes. This is a favorite event for many local and area runners. Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 9, 2024! Thanks to everyone for coming out as participants and volunteers to be part of our event.

Members who qualify as a Half Fanatic, Marathon Maniac, or Double Agent will receive an engraved mug at our Annual Run and Meeting in May. We use the criteria from the websites halffanatics.com and marathonmaniacsdb.com but you do not have to be a member of these groups for our award. 

Criteria for Half Fanatics: Complete 2 Half Marathons within a 16 day time frame or 3 Half Marathons within a 90 day time frame.
Criteria for Marathon Maniacs: Complete 2 Marathons within a 16 day time frame or 3 Marathons within a 90 day time frame.
Criteria for Double Agent: Member of the Half Fanatics and Marathon Maniacs

Some groups that will help you keep your running consistent and on track:
The 'Un' Run - is an 'un'organized, 'un'timed run with a social afterwards. It is open to anyone and any distance. It is normally at 6 pm with social at 7 pm. The date, time and location is posted on the Red River Road Runner Facebook page.

The GYRO (Get Your Run/Ride On!) - has a group run on Sunday mornings and has runs and bike rides on other days as well. The GYRO main goal is having fun while training for half and full marathons. Contact Doug Skelton for more information.

Saturday Morning Runners - This group meets at 6 a.m. on Saturday mornings usually at the Line Avenue Starbucks. Distances generally start at 5 miles but you can run/walk less mileage or more. Contact Bill Peatross for more information.

Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) - is a veteran support organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of wounded veterans and their families. Ultimately, they aim to transform the way wounded veterans are reintegrated into society when they return from combat. Civilian members are welcome. See their FB page

Get On a Trail Shreveport (GOATS) - This is a group for the outdoor enthusiast who loves to run. Ultra-runners, weekend trail whackers, road runners who want a change. All are welcome...no runners left behind. See their FB page
